Report On HSE Working Event By Co-ord Chair Now Available

The HSE continues holding it's event, 'Helping Great Britain Work Well', around various cities in the UK, the latest of which was held in London. The NW BTU Health & Safety Co-ord's Chair, Derek Maylor. Writing in his report , now available on this website, he reminds readers that:

"During the consultation the NW Safety Forum had raised (several; times) the need for a simpler method in the assessment of risks rather than mere formal Risk Assessments that sit on a shelf in an office; starting with the worker and what is needed for their work to be done safely. It was pleasing then to hear this get a mention; ..."

Despite many in the Trade Union movement believing that the HSE strategy is simply a Tory Government dictate, the CWU have always believed in communication and exchange of views and opinions as a way forward, even with such a Tory government as we currently have.

The opportunity to drive home our stance on health and safety at work was the main drive for Derek to attend this event and you can read his report here
