The HSE continues holding it's event, 'Helping Great Britain Work Well', around various cities in the UK, the latest of which was held in London. The NW BTU Health & Safety Co-ord's Chair, Derek Maylor. Writing in his report , now available on this website, he reminds readers that: "During the consultation the NW Safety Forum had raised (several; times) the need for a simpler method in the assessment of risks rather than mere formal Risk Assessments that sit on a shelf in an office; starting with the worker and what is needed for their work to be done safely. It was pleasing then to hear this get a mention; ..." Despite many in the Trade Union movement believing that the HSE strategy is simply a Tory Government dictate, the CWU have always believed in communication and exchange of views and opinions as a way forward, even with such a Tory government as we currently have.
